Some of the most rewarding work I do isn't a single filling or crown — it's helping someone who has lived for years with broken, worn, or missing teeth get their whole smile, and their confidence, back. That's what full mouth rehabilitation is. If you've been told you "need a lot of work" or you've simply stopped smiling in photos, this guide explains what's possible.
What Full Mouth Rehabilitation Is
Full mouth rehabilitation (or reconstruction) is a single, coordinated plan that rebuilds all or most of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaw. Rather than treating one tooth at a time, we look at the whole system — teeth, gums, bite, and jaw joints — and restore it together so everything works in harmony. It draws on several procedures, combined to fit your needs.
Who Needs It?
- Multiple missing or failing teeth
- Extensive wear from long-term grinding (bruxism)
- Widespread decay or many old, failing restorations
- Trauma that damaged several teeth at once
- Chronic jaw pain or bite problems (TMJ issues)
- A lifetime of postponed care that has added up
The Building Blocks
Every plan is custom, but most combine several of these:
| Procedure | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Dental implants / All-on-4 | Replace missing teeth, preserve bone |
| Crowns & bridges | Rebuild and protect damaged teeth |
| Veneers | Restore appearance of front teeth |
| Root canals | Save infected teeth worth keeping |
| Gum & bite therapy | Heal the foundation; balance the bite |
What the Process Looks Like
- 1. Comprehensive workup — exam, digital X-rays, 3D CBCT, photos, and bite analysis
- 2. The blueprint — a written, phased plan with options, sequence, timeline, and cost
- 3. Foundation first — any gum disease, infection, or extractions handled up front
- 4. Rebuild — implants, crowns, and restorations placed in a planned order
- 5. Protect — a night guard and a maintenance schedule to keep the results lasting
Because the work is often phased, you regain comfort and function early and complete the plan in manageable steps. Financing makes it workable for most budgets. You can read more on our full mouth rehabilitation page.
