Restorative Dentistry in Frisco TX — Rebuilding Your Smile's Strength and Function

By Dr. Chakrapani Nannapaneni, DDS · UCSF School of Dentistry · June 2026 · Frisco TX

Restorative dentistry is the branch of dental care focused on repairing damaged teeth and replacing missing ones — restoring both function and appearance to a healthy baseline. It's where most dental spending actually goes, and understanding the options available helps patients make informed decisions rather than just accepting the first recommendation.

The Restorative Dentistry Spectrum — From Simple to Complex

Fill
ing
Dental Fillings — Stage 2–3 Decay

Composite resin removes decayed tooth material and replaces it with tooth-colored material. The simplest and most common restorative procedure. Cost: $150–$350. One appointment.

Inlays & Onlays — Moderate Damage

Custom-made restorations for teeth too damaged for a filling but not requiring a full crown. Fabricated in a lab from porcelain or gold. More conservative than crowns — preserves more tooth structure. Cost: $650–$1,200.

Crwn
Dental Crowns — Severely Damaged or Root Canal Teeth

A cap covering the entire visible tooth. Indicated when a tooth is cracked, broken, heavily decayed, or has had root canal therapy. Porcelain crowns are strong, natural-looking, and long-lasting (10–20 years). Cost: $1,000–$1,800.

RCT
Root Canal Therapy — Infected Pulp

Removes infected nerve tissue from inside the tooth, allowing the tooth structure to be preserved. Modern root canals are virtually painless. Almost always followed by a crown. Cost: $700–$1,500. Saves the natural tooth.

Impl
Dental Implants — Missing Teeth

The gold standard for tooth replacement. Titanium post fused to jawbone, topped with a custom crown. Preserves bone, functions like a natural tooth, lasts a lifetime. Cost: $1,800–$3,500 per tooth.

FMR
Full Mouth Rehabilitation — Comprehensive Reconstruction

Combining multiple restorative procedures across the entire mouth — often crowns, implants, root canals, and bite correction. For patients with severe wear, multiple missing teeth, or long-neglected dental health. Dr. C provides a phased treatment plan with transparent pricing at the consultation.

Dr. C's Restorative Philosophy

My approach to restorative dentistry follows one principle: the least intervention that achieves the best long-term outcome. A tooth that needs a filling doesn't get a crown. A tooth that can be saved with a root canal doesn't get extracted. Every treatment recommendation is based on what I would recommend for a family member — with the same budget constraints and life circumstances.

Every restorative plan at Frisco Dental Hub is presented in writing before treatment begins — including all options, all costs, and what happens if treatment is delayed. No surprises.
